'The Seven Seas' returns to Brisbane Powerhouse for ONE NIGHT ONLY.
Monday, 07 OCT, 2013
The Good Ship return to Brisbane Powerhouse to present their acclaimed theatrical show 'The Seven Seas'. Since a sold-out season at the Visy Theatre in February 2013, the band have recorded the 10 songs from the show, to be realeased on November 15th as their third album.
The new album, 'The Seven Seas' started out from a song of the same name from second release 'O' Exquisite Corpse'. With help from an ARTS QLD grant, the life story of the song's protagonist is told as a 10 part song cycle, incorporating all the usual Good Ship themes: love, death and revenge.
The band brought in new collaborators Kat Henry (director), Andrew Meadows (lighting designer) and Sandro Colarelli (actor/singer) to turn the songs and script into a music theatre piece.
Recorded at Gasworks Studios with Josh Tuck, ''The Seven Seas' contains the vocals of four lead singers. Katherine Cooke swaps trumpet for microphone, making her lead vocal debut on new single 'World Spin Round'. Special guest Sandro Colarelli takes the lead on show finale 'Misunderstood'.

See the World Spin Round... and our new video clip!
Friday, 04 October, 2013
The Good Ship is very proud to present our latest film clip and single 'World Spin Round', from our upcoming album 'The Seven Seas'.
'World Spin Round' is the first single from The Good Ship's third studio album: "The Seven Seas" which will be released in November 2013. It features crewmember Kat Cooke's debut as a lead vocalist.
Expanded from the band's song of the same name, The Seven Seas tells of a boy seeking to exact revenge upon the sea for the deaths of his father and brother by conquering her in all her might. But what will he lose to do so? And why is the storyteller so forthright in telling his tale?

As well as a massive thanks to Stacy and Michelle, for giving so generously, during our Canadian Pozible campaign, earlier this year.

Our New Single + Video
Monday, 24th June, 2013
To accompany our Capital Offensive Tour, we offer you our new single, a cover of The Rake's Song, originally by The Decemberists. It's been one of our live favourites for a couple of years now and is probably the most upbeat song ever written about killing your children – it's the one where we keep yelling 'alright, alright, alriiiiight' in the choruses and the Kats Cooke & Ogilvie keep jumping up and down. We have also made a video from various home-movie style clips harvested from all of our phones since 2010 including tour footage from all over Australia as well as our recent trip to Canada. It's all been lovingly edited together by our very own Brett Harris. It's like a little scrapbook of our adventures and we love it, hope you do too.

Sin City, Sweet Clip!
Friday, 16 November, 2012
To coincide with the release of our third single from the album O' Exquisite Corpse, The Good Ship got greased up and let loose to film the clip for sultry lil' Sin City Sweetheart.
It tells the semi-tall tale of Mr Harris' Las Vegas adventures: crashing honeymoons, forbidden fruits and punctual prostitution... A man so desperate for love within a town of unfathomable pleasures, that he falls for an ageing, broken, one-armed, one-eyed woman—who steals his heart as quickly as she does his wallet.

Seven Seas – Film Clip
Thursday, 05 APRIL, 2012
It's been nearly two years since THE GOOD SHIP stormed the beaches with their debut album Avast! Wretched Sea.
That album saw them receive rave reviews from around the world, a slew of festival spots including Woodford and an invited performance at Brisbane Festival, and a legion of dedicated fans. Now they are nearing completion of their second full- length, due for release mid 2012. To get the ball rolling they're launching the first single "Seven Seas" with an East Coast tour throughout April.
Seven Seas is sung from the perspective of a sea dog locked in a prison cell for murder, not regretting his actions but only lamenting the fact that he cannot reach his beloved ocean. The song is typical of the band's musical approach, with an upbeat and jaunty feel hiding a dark and morbid sentiment.

Won't sombody please, please, please, take me to the Seven Seas?
